I've had this Amplifier since early 1980s and it seems to have
required a lot of repairs. There's been a total amp failure 5 or 6
times. This amp must have been in the repair shop 12 or so times since
I've owned it. I have spent way too much on repairing it through its
long lifetime. It hasn't been my main amp for some years, just an
occasional amp. I was ready to sell it for very little but had it
repaired in late December 02 and also had the speaker replaced before
I move to UK. Also I had it converted for 220 Voltage.

Since moving to UK (it's one of the few that will work over here) I've
used it maybe 5 or six times on sit-ins or gigs. Last night I used it
and had it cranked up as high as it would go. I was playing some
funk/fusion (not a good amp for that)anyway it conked out on me on the
last tune of the last set. Now it just makes a loud noise (buzz) when
it is turned on. I never have changed the fuse, though you are
supposed ot half the fuse voltage. I was told by a electronics guy
here that using the 250 volt fuse here on 220 current would not hurt
it. Has anyone else had bad reliability with a Mini_Brute IV or any
Polytone? Any ideas on why it fails fo often. Usually I don't play
with it cranked up high.

You sometimes get that sound from a ss amp when one diode fails in a
bridge rectifier in the PSU.
