I can't find the melody, but here are the changes from the Vanilla Book:
Key of C 4/4

[ C | Dm7 G7 | C | Dm7 G7 |

| C | Dm7 G7 | C | Dm7 G7 |

| C | Dm7 G7 | C | B7 |

| E B7 | E B7 | E B7 | E / / Eb |

|| Dm | A7 | Dm | Cdim |

| C | D7 | G7 Edim | Dm7 G7 |

| C | Dm7 G7 | C7 | F A7 |

| D7 | G7 | C | C |

The only books that have the melody are Hal Leonard Real Book Vol.6, and
"All the Right Changes" by Dick Hyman.

Many thanks. I wanted a bona fide lead sheet to provide to others, and
fortuantely I have the Hyman book. Tough to locate everything that's
laying the shelf...

Of course, Ralph refers to them explicitly as "vanilla", but I have to
say the Hyman changes are really excellent, and sound exactly like what
Bickert is doing on his brilliant accompaniment to Rosemary Clooney's
version on "Sings Ballads". As well as his playing with Desmond ("Pure
Desmond"). Thanks again.

I've been digging that series on youtube "Coffee with Nelson Faria". Some incredible Brazillian music and guitarists!

find the melody, either.

I think you're saying you either don't like the tune, Rosemary or
something else: I can't imagine a musician "can't find the melody".
The wandering quazi-narrative introduction (aka "verse") isn't the
greatest, but it too has a through-line.

I'm sure I can't help you, other than to show you to a lead sheet and
point each note out as it's played or sung.

Well, melodically it's certainly understated. I'll always remember
hearing Quincy Jones telling the story about his orchestration teacher
telling him that anybody can learn to arrange but melody comes from god.
It was a very sleepy god who ordained this one.

Cole Porter did manage to cobble together a couple though.

How does Paul Desmond do with it?

Desmond could do no wrong.

BTW - this cut contains a super-rare Bickert
clam at 2:39 - one of the *very* few I can
remember hearing the cat ever blow.

Good Catch, you're the only, if maybe one of the lucky few to catch one.
You should be buying lottery tickets.

Yes, with Bickert; "Sings Ballads" ('85).
