Lefty archtop bridge???
(too old to reply)

I've been desperately trying to find a left handed rosewood, or ebony
bridge, to replace the tunomatic on my archtop. It seems like nobody makes
such thing as a replacement part. It's pretty depressing.
Perhaps someone here has one laying around?
How much should I expect to pay to have one made by a luthier? It seems like
it could be my only option.

Thanks Thom, I'd really appreciate that. A wooden compensated bridge is
exactly what I'm looking for.

Try the guy at this location. He seems to be right into archtop bridges
and he makes them himself. I wouldn't hesitate to ask him if he'll
make a couple fo leftys for you. He sells on eBay all the time.

And further to my last post, it's occured to me that the Hofner Style bridge
he has could be used for a left or right handed guitar. It looks
like you just move those inserts to wherever you want, meaning it could
be used for either orientation. It might not be the bridge you ultimately
want but it could get you started while he makes the one you want.
Just a thought.

ts duke, both Phil's suggestions are worth looking into and
I just remembered, I was going to go the graph-tech route
with a tuno-matic bridge as it gives you more of the warm
dark wood sound, and you just replace' these where your
already installed metal saddles are, take a look:

no ts duke, not yet. I'm waiting for a new lefty archtop with the
tun'o'matic bridge to come in.. it wont be here for a few weeks
as the xmas & new years time frame for shipping would have it
at a carrier warehouse so it wont be shipped until jan.5-04. I'll
give it a go after I have played it for awhile...cheers t.j.
