Post by Brian OatesIs there a surviving discussion group that talks about music and not
politics? I want to participate in music discussions without any
veering off into political debates. For me music is an escape from
those discussions, my main emphasis is jazz guitar performing and
repertoire so TDPRI and GDP type forums are too much about soldering
parts and equipment decisions for this.
Welcome to *all* discussion, post-Fox. There's always the various
Facebook guitar groups, but I find there's not much real discussion
there. It's just link-sharing: Look at this, look at that. Arguably
most of the "discussion groups" had some carping because people only
talked too much about guitar-collecting and string gauges.
This group actually discussed music, guitar, jazz, and if you were
willing to set up kill-files for psychos and fascist trolls, you could
actually engage. But trolls pretty much beat down the will of the crew
and they dissipated.
Oh well.
Here's one person's view of "great" blogs:

Some consider jazzguitar.be the last remaining enclave.
I've recently been shuffling hundreds of files, snatches of writing
stored on my harddrive, in DevonThink, Scrivener and MacJournal where I
wrote longer posts later posted here, as well as email to other
players, and ruminations I never intended to pass on. Dang: A lot of
chatter! Back when I could regularly discuss music, I was constantly
encouraged to actually play more; I was just thinking about so much of
the time. Now it's dissipated a great deal. I guess that's life.
