Post by d***@excite.comIt looks like both of these amps are going head to head in features and are very similar except the AI has the nesting feature. I can find no comparison online of these 2 amps...which is strange because they are the Honda and Toyota of small jazz amps.
Has anyone heard them side by side with archtop?
I have to pick a small grab and go and these have all the features ...but which one do folks like best?
Ideally, you need to find a place to try them.
I've tried Acoustic Image and think they're great amps, and If I needed an amp I'd buy one of their heads(if they make one) to use with my Raezers Edge speaker Cabs.
The Acoustic Inage might be better thought of as more Hi-Fi and work well as PA for Voice very nicely and I think give better definition to each note.
I believe the Henriksen is more in the family of Polytone type sound but more modern with many improvements over the Polytone , which I used for many years,gave me a fatter/ darker typical Jazz sound, which is what I prefer, but not everybody likes that.
I also have a Polytone Head to sue with my Cabs, I've been lazy and am using a
JazzKat Combo amp, which is also a bit of the Polytone - ish soundwise.
I think JazzKat's out of business now. But it's been a Great useful 20 lb nice sounding 100 Watt amp for gigs, and less time consuming than hooking up Head to Speaker when in a hurry, and way easier to carry around.
Hopefully somebody else with more Henriksen experience will post here.
