Hey Everyone,
it's been a long time since I've checked in. I thought this group was kinda dead, but it seems quite active actually, good to see. I've been gigging less, started playing bass, and quite busy with my day job, but still practicing and playing, I just put up a tune on soundcloud:

hoping to re-focus a bit on music, and check in a bit more often. hope everyone is well!

I still box, I wrote about my first amateur fight here:

I've improved a lot since then. having a fight is a lot like playing a gig, you learn a lot and get a lot better as a result.

Hi Paul. My fourth grade teacher set up a boxing tournament among the boys in my class. We were all totally excited about it. I realized about thirty seconds into my first (and last) bout that I didn't actually enjoy getting hit in the head. That was the end of my boxing career.

Boxing only works if you can find people who enjoy hitting more than they
mind being hit. That does, however, seem to be a lot of people.

Given the damage it does to people's brains, I can't imagine boxing
remaining legal much longer.

Say that about football and your imagination can become more more
malleable. After the recent NFL 750 million settlement, I heard
someone on the news say that the NFL was worried about the mom's and
dad's that don't want to let their 8 or 9 year-old boys play pee-wee or
elementary school football. And if they don't get the vibe at 8, they
won't be "consumers" of the sport when they are in their
mid-twenties--which for the business end of the NFL is a disaster.

What creepy thinking--but completely true.

In my early 20's, I was okay at the head thing because I wasn't getting
hit by any Brandon Rios or Ray Mancini-style punchers, just arm-boxers
and my general defense was okay. But the body shots were misery!
Crippling--literaly. After a few cracked ribs I found other things to
do while waiting 2 months to *laugh* again!

Now when I get a boo-boo on my pinky from too much playing I lay down
and take a 10 count...
