Very, very old Gibson ES-335
(too old to reply)

This must be the rarest Gibson ever made, pre-dating even Orville
himself.

According to the auction ad, this guitar "HAS NORMAL WEAR ASSOCIATED
WITH A 245 PLUS YEAR OLD GUITAR." Normal wear on a 245+ year-old
guitar has got to be something, considering it was made in or before
1763. Let's see this guitar was made as the French-Indian war ended,
when slavery was in full swing, and when the US was friendly with
Britian.

At only $1100 BIN, I'd snap it up quick before a collector of US
Revolutionary era antiques does!

Volutes were all the rage in that era, evidently.

Solid body 335... who thought of that, Mr Norlin himself? Shoulda done
a hollow body SG too. Please don't tell me they did!

They did. It's called the Barney Kessel model.

does this mean the pickups are the coveted PNYAFs? [Patent not yet
applied for] I hear those are sweet. Too bad the amplifier was still
150 years from being invented.

Yeah, you know that had to be a drag - and no electricity to boot. The
inventor was obviously well ahead of his time!

I guess I'm missing the joke. The seller does claim it's rare, but not that
it's super old.

I like this part, though. Based on the chips, dings and fairly large voids
in the finish--down to the wood--I'd call it normal wear for a guitar not
very-well taken care of.

I thought it was a Hoax, but there was actually a Gibson 335S built in
19080-81?

Now that's gotta be rare; it hasn't even been made and won't be for
millenia.
