.. so a german court has ordered. judge says that "still got the blues" is a
plagiat of a title a german krautrock band composed in 1974 (but somehow
never recorded). no mention of "autumn leaves" though. funny stuff.

I doubt it's funny for Gary Moore. I looked up the news article on
Reuters and they said it was his solo on the title cut that was
plagiarized. I hope they don't analyzing my solos!

I havent read the article yet, but man that Les Paul tone on the live
version of the tune is so great!

(starts at 2:37, if you are impatient like me...then there is an even
livelier outro solo, check back in around 4:33 til the end and he just
wails on it)
I cant say i've ever heard a better Les Paul tone than this - this is
quintessential, AFAIC.

...yeah, now about those Autumn Leaves changes...hmmmm

Hmmm ...might be a good time for Kenny Dorham's estate to go after GM
for his Blue Bossa ripoff in Parisienne Walkway!

Why do I think of Carlos Santana during the intro?

Why do I think of Carlos Santana during the intro?
who?
Is it because Carlos took the head of 'Fly Me To The Moon' and removed
all the connecting scale tones for the melody to his instrumental 'El
Farol'?

Yes! It's very distracting, like a bad version of FMTTM.

FWIW, the two tunes are rather similar.

the passage in question is similar. it's a trivial guidetone melody over the
changes of autumn leaves. you should read some of the "expert" statements
presented at the trial. hilarious. and no mention of autumn leaves. gary
moore/virgin obviously had a really lousy lawyer.
